Step 1: Navigate to Client's Eligibility Screen
The first step in updating your client's ACA application in MyMFG is to go to your client's eligibility screen. There are three ways to do this:
Through the EDE (Enhanced Direct Enrollment) ACA Agent Dashboard where you can see all of your submitted ACA applications and their current status.
1: Navigate to your ACA Agent Dashboard go to the blue navigational banner at the top and click "Other" and select "EDE ACA Agent Dashboard."
2. To open a client's ACA eligibility screen from the dashboard, click View Application next to the client's application.
2. Do an EDE (Enhanced Direct Enrollment) Person Search
Click EDE Person Search
Enter the client's first name, last name, and date of birth
Click on find the application
Click on View Application
Note: EDE Person Search shows all applications for that client, including previous plan years and any active ones. This is useful if you need to confirm which application is the current active one.
3. From the client's profile
Select Clients
View Client List
Select the client
Scroll down to the EDE (Enhanced Direct Enrollment) Eligibility tab
Click View
This is the fastest way to reach a single client's ACA eligibility screen.
Previous Plan Year Application
If you open an application from a previous plan year (for example, a 2025 application when you are now in 2026), you will not be able to make changes or re-enroll through a prior year application.
What to do instead: If the client needs coverage, you will need to start a new application for the current plan year. If you are unsure whether the client has an active application for the current year, use EDE Person Search to look up all applications associated with that client — it will show you if there is an active one.
Step 2: Selecting the Correct Button
As long as your client has an active policy with status "Enrollment Submitted by CMS" you can either select: the Report a Change in Circumstance button or the Review App button located at the top of your client's eligibility screen.
You will not be able to select the Review App button if the application is "in progress".
Quick Reference: Which Button Should I Use?
Situation | Button to Use |
Making a change that triggers a SEP (Special Enrollment Period) | Report a Change in Circumstance |
Making a change that does not trigger a SEP (Special Enrollment Period) (income, name, address) | Review App |
Submitting the update to the carrier after changes are complete | Change or Edit Plan (final step only) |
Application is from a previous plan year | Cannot update — start a new application |
Report a Change in Circumstance:
Use this when the change you are making is likely to trigger a SEP (Special Enrollment Period) — for example, a household member losing coverage, the client moving to a new area, or an immigration status change. This is also the button to use if the client wants to switch to a different plan because of the life change.
This button opens the eligibility screener (the multi-step application form) from the very beginning (Step 1). You will need to go through each step of the screener until you reach the section that needs to be updated.
Review App:
Use this when the change does not trigger a SEP (Special Enrollment Period) — for example, updating income, correcting a name, or fixing an address that does not affect the coverage area
This button takes you directly to the end of the eligibility application, where you can click into any individual section to edit it. It is faster than going through the full screener because you skip straight to the part you need.
Note: if you use Review App but the change you make ends up triggering a SEP (Special Enrollment Period), the system will automatically follow the same steps as Report a Change in Circumstance. This is normal.
Step 3: Maintain the Policy or Change/Edit Plan
After clicking Change or Edit Plan, you will see one of two things depending on whether a SEP (Special Enrollment Period) was triggered:
No SEP (Special Enrollment Period) triggered — a pop-up appears that says "You don't have a SEP, would you like to maintain the policy?" This does not mean anything is changing with the client's plan. The client is staying on the same plan. This step simply tells the carrier about the updated eligibility information. Only the client's currently enrolled plan will appear — select it and complete the steps to confirm the update is sent to the carrier. If you close out of this pop-up without finishing, the update won't be sent to the carrier. You can reopen it by clicking Change or Edit Plan again.
SEP (Special Enrollment Period) triggered — you will be able to select a new plan for the client or keep them on their current plan. Complete the enrollment to finish.
Troubleshooting
If you get an error at any point, try clearing your browser cache and retrying. If the error continues, contact the MyMFG Support team with the client name, Application ID, and a screenshot.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the ACA Eligibility Screen?
The ACA eligibility screen is the main screen for managing a client's ACA application. It shows the client's current eligibility results, subsidy amounts, and enrollment status. It is also where agents go to make any updates or changes to the application. The buttons available on this screen — and whether they are clickable or grayed out — depend on the status of the client's application.
Can I update a client's ACA application outside of Open Enrollment?
Yes. Changes in circumstances can be reported at any time during the year. You do not have to wait for Open Enrollment to update a client's income, household information, address, or other eligibility details. Open Enrollment only affects when a client can enroll in or switch plans without a qualifying life event.
What is the difference between reporting a change and qualifying for a SEP (Special Enrollment Period)?
These are two separate things. You can always report a change to a client's application — that is allowed at any time. Whether the change results in a SEP (Special Enrollment Period) depends on what kind of change it is. If the change triggers a SEP (Special Enrollment Period), the client may be able to switch plans. If it doesn't, the application is updated and the client's subsidy amounts are recalculated, but the client stays on their current plan.
I'm getting an error when I try to update a client's application. What should I do?
First, try clearing your browser cache and retrying. If the error happens during saving, signing, or submitting, note the exact step where it occurred and what change you were making. If the error continues after retrying, contact the MyMFG Support team and provide the client name, App ID, and a screenshot of the error.
Why do I see an "Enrollment not allowed" message when I click Change or Edit Plan?
This usually means you are looking at an application from a previous plan year that can no longer be updated. Check the plan year on the application. If it is from a prior year, use EDE Person Search to find the client's current active application, or start a new one if there isn't one.
The Review App button is grayed out. Why?
The Review App button is not available when the application is still in progress and has not been fully submitted yet. You will need to resume and complete the in-progress application first. Once it has been submitted, the Review App button will become available.
I updated the application but I'm not sure the change was sent to the carrier. What do I do?
After submitting the updated eligibility application, you must click Change or Edit Plan on the eligibility overview page and complete the plan selection flow — even if the client is staying on the same plan. This is how MyMFG sends the update to the carrier. If you closed out of the pop-up before finishing, nothing is broken — click Change or Edit Plan again to reopen it and complete the steps.
I can see a previous year application and a current year application for the same client. Which one do I use?
Always use the current plan year application. The previous year application cannot be updated and will show grayed out buttons or an "Enrollment not allowed" error. If you are not sure which application is the active one, EDE Person Search will show you all applications for that client — look for the one with the current plan year and a status of Enrollment Submitted by CMS.
